My Story
I am Ant (Anthony) Bot (Botros) and I started Ant Bot Design, LLC to share my love for woodworking and instructional design. Continue reading for a brief introduction to my instructional design story. As a student, I always struggled with poorly designed lessons. A slideshow filled with too many words, bullets, or images was difficult for me to process due to sensory overload. My story continued...
As I progressed through school, I began creating my own versions of the presentations I was forced to endure. By eliminating all extraneous information and isolating key concepts on each slide, I found that I was able to learn much more effectively. Soon I was sharing my presentations with my teachers, asking them to simplify their presentations.
I believe all people learn better when the minimal amount of necessary cognitive strain placed in placed on learners.

My first teaching experience came during my second year of college. My ability to effectively teach with simplified instructional content impressed professors and I was asked to assist in teaching the "Academic Success" class to failing freshmen students. I was then asked to assist in teaching Organic Chemistry Lab.
After graduating college, I became a science teacher in underserved communities in Maryland. I spent 8 years in Title-1 schools and have taught well over 1,000 students.

In 2020, the COVID-19 Pandemic forced all teachers and students into remote online learning and my frustration with poorly designed instruction came back with full force. I realized that most teachers were delivering poorly designed lessons and students were bored and frustrated. It was then that I decided to pursue a Master's Degree in Instructional Design and Technology. I believe that every learner, child, and adult, deserves a high-quality education. I was eager to advance my natural skill in instructional design by completing a formal, research-driven, degree program.
